That's what has been going on in the world of weddings. Well, the world of my wedding. I've got the location, dress, tables, chairs, glasses, food, guests and alcohol all squared away now, and have for some time. That's why no entries. Because my days have been filled with nothing. At least nothing stressful. And as I said in my last post, this is a tool for when I need to vent about the stress that accompanies all weddings (although when it's a bit do it yourself it is more stressful than others).
I know there are things I still need to think about, but there aren't that many. Invitations and dresses for bridesmaids and I think that's about it. We aren't sending save-the-date reminders because that's one of our many strategies to ensure we do not exceed the 150 person limit. Maybe people will plan something else and they won't be able to come! Also, our friends Knute and Lauren have done us the kindness of having their wedding the weekend before. There's lots of overlap in guests, so presumably some folks will go to their wedding and not ours. Which is actually pretty great because the reality is that we won't actually be able to socialize with people who fly in from out of town at our wedding. It's usually a 10 minute conversation and onto the next guest. So people, please, we will NOT be hurt if you choose their wedding over ours. We look forward to having a substantive conversation and spend quality time with you celebrating Knute and Lauren's wedding! (But that doesn't mean you don't haev to buy us a gift!) (KIDDING!)
I am letting Grant plan the honeymoon. Not sure if that's the best idea, since as of yesterday he hadn't even opened the book our friend gave us on Costa Rica (the theoretical destination). I'm a "get it done" kind gal, and not having it planned yet in any form makes me nervous. But hey, I'm learning to let all that go! We did decide that we would wait 2 weeks after the wedding to go on the honeymoon though. That's because it is the same price to fly round trip from here to there as it is to stop in NY on the way back. So we will coordinate the return from our honeymoon with the big Italian fiesta for NY friends and family that my father is ostensibly going to throw us. What better way to celebrate our return than surrounded by MORE people with MORE food and drink. And this time I don't have to pay for or plan any of it! Plus, it will coincide with my 40th birthday, so that will be nice as well.
Yep, things are pretty boring around here in terms of stress. And I don't mind that one bit. Although it does make for boring blog entries. Oh well. I have no doubt that there will be plenty to write about as the day gets closer. Until then, I'll take blissful nothingness!
